Term limits will provide Republicans with the opportunity of a lifetime. Never in the history of Louisiana politics has there been so many open seats in the state legislature. Because of term limits, 50 of the 105 seats in the State House will be open in 2007. This dynamic clearly has the Democrats on defense.

50 SEATS in the House of Representatives will be open.
35 of the 50 seats are held by Democratic incumbents. 20 of open Democrat House seats are in districts where President Bush won majorities. David Vitter won majorities in 13 of these 20 seats and ran strong in the remaining seven districts, which are concentrated in the 7th Congressional District.
